The House of Charvet
Édouard Charvet is the oldest shirtmaker in Paris. He founded the house in 1838.
At the time, he showed audacity by opening a shirt shop catering to high society.
Until then, shirtmakers had made their shirts privately, traveling to clients’ homes.
He built up the most prestigious clientele imaginable, including, for example, Eiffel, the Prince of Wales, Zola, Offenbach, and numerous crowned heads, and later, General de Gaulle.
