Hermès silk scarf Au clair de la lune, designed by artist Sandra Laroche in the early 2000s, is directly inspired by the famous French song of the same name.
Rather than focusing solely on Pierrot, Laroche brings together all the protagonists of the nursery rhyme — the narrator, Pierrot, Lubin, and the mysterious neighbour — to create a truly theatrical night-time tableau.
In each corner, delicate decorative fans are adorned with handwritten fragments of the song, adding a literary and intimate dimension to the composition.
The design unfolds a poetic world of silver moons, stars, doves and masks, bathed in a soft, dreamlike atmosphere. Beneath the apparent innocence of a children’s rhyme lies a subtle nocturnal scene with a double meaning, beautifully conveyed through Sandra Laroche’s refined graphic language.
