Hermès silk scarf Cortège Royal, designed by Philippe Ledoux in 1968.
The composition is built around two key elements: the coats of arms — placed at the centre and again in one corner — and a group of feathers, located in a single corner of the scarf.
Ledoux gives particular attention to these feathers, drawn with very fine lines and subtle shading that creates a light, supple texture. Their isolated placement in one corner sets up a visual contrast with the rest of the design and evokes the decorative plumage used in royal processions on harnesses and ceremonial attire.
The colour palette is composed of white, brown, black and gold, a combination that highlights the precision of Ledoux’s work and is perfect for this subject
The scarf is in excellent condition, hand-rolled, 100% silk twill.
