Hermès silk scarf Harnais Français – Premier Empire, first edition from 1957, designed by Hugo Grykar.
The central scene shows a pair of white horses equipped with richly decorated ceremonial harnesses from the Napoleonic period. The border features tassels, metallic ornaments and light floral elements, arranged in a layout typical of mid-century Hermès designs.
This early edition can be identified by the absence of copyright marking and by its soft, nuanced palette used in the 1950s: warm ivory, celadon green, gold accents and deep red.
The scarf is in excellent condition, hand-rolled, 100% silk twill.
