This rare Hermès Les Bassets scarf, designed by the painter Xavier de Poret, is one of his very first animal-themed scarves.
Published in 1956, it sensitively illustrates the various poses of basset hounds.
The silk has remained supple with a lovely drape, the red rolled hem is clearly visible, and the artist’s signature is also present.
However, the blue background shows significant discoloration and pigment alterations, visible across the entire scarf, likely due to improper washing.
It is therefore more of a collector’s item.
Dimensions: approximately 35 in X 35 in
Material: silk
Condition: very good structural condition, but significant discoloration of the background. This is clearly visible in the photos.
