Against a delicate blue-gray background, four stylized female figures—evoking geishas—are depicted in a traditional interior: a screen, tatami mats, fabrics, fans, floral motifs, and decorative elements painted in ink.
The drawing, exquisitely soft, blends pastels, touches of black ink, and accents of deep red. The lines are free, almost sketched, like a fashion drawing. Maggy Rouff (1896–1971) was one of the leading figures of 20th-century French haute couture. Her accessories—particularly her scarves—are now rare and highly sought after. They are distinguished by their pictorial compositions, reminiscent of fashion sketches and the Orientalist or Art Deco influences of her time.
