A fan of fine veins inspired by the broad leaves of the palm tree, the One Hundred Pleats skirt unfolds on a carpet of delicate motifs that symbolize the culture and craftsmanship of the Miao people.
In southwest China, sheltered by the Mountains of the Moon, women weave, create batiks, and embroider. They reproduce the color harmonies and symbols of their ethnic group. Every young girl is expected to own a skirt with a hundred pleats and silver jewelry such as the small, intricately carved horse.
